The Lean Lab thought it was about time to launch our own Minimum Viable Product. So we organized an innovation weekend (over MLK,Jr. holiday) --a mini startup weekend, but with a twist--all pitches and problems had to be specific to education in KCMO. Four teams were formed, and thirty intensive hours were spent doing intensive "customer development" as teams hit the pavement and hit up the phone lines, interviewing potential "customers" to validate--or invalidate--their problem hypotheses. Using a blend of lean startup and design thinking techniques, our four teams ended up with four innovative solutions to address some complex problems in Kansas City.
TEAM 1: KC-TASC (KC Teacher Administration Coalition)
Original Problem Statement: lack of local, career-ready human capital in KC industries
Final Problem Statement: Inadequate collaboration and awareness between teachers and administrators
Solution: A collaborative task force that acts to bring together administrators and leaders
