After four intense weeks of customer empathy work, design, partnership-building, prototyping and data collection, our fellows were ready to launch their initiatives into the public sphere on July 11 at Demo Day at the Sprint Accelerator. We had an amazing turnout of over 140 guests ranging from educators, entrepreneurs, friends & family, to funders and press. It was awe-inspiring to see such a diverse group with varying mindsets and opinions surrounding education sit in the same room and rally behind our fellows and their hard work to make Kansas City education better for its students. You read more about each initiative here.
Despite the amazing turnout, many more of our invitees expressed regret that they could not be in attendance. Demo Day was in the middle of the summer after all, so who wouldn't want to go lay on a beach during this time? The Lean Lab team had already prepared to film the fellows' pitches for our own purposes, but we also crafted more timely solution to address our beach-goers needs: live streaming on Project Bright Spots.
Many people tuned in to watch pitches live, even from as far away as Puerto Rico, but others at the event went back and watched the pitches again because they were just that good! So as you relish the last days of summer (dare we say, even hit a beach or two yourself?) and wait for news from the fellows' pilots this coming school year, relive the momentum from Demo Day here.
